My goal is to create workout plans for people who want to increase their functional fitness. I'm especially interested in working with people who are over the age of 45 or are dealing with obesity. I became a personal trainer because I love to help people meet their goals so that they can do the simple things in life well as long as they can. In addition to my target clients, I also enjoy working with sports specific training. If you are feeling the negative effects of aging or are overweight, I want to help you develop a plan to become fully functional. I come to you--your home gym or a park or another pre-arranged meeting place. I can bring several pieces of appropriate equipment with me.
Who I Am
My name is Doug Hering and I'm a life long health enthusiast. Ever since my dad taught me to play basketball in the driveway, I've loved sports. I was a jumper in on my high school track team. Over the years, I've enjoyed lifting, soccer, cycling, volleyball as well as a few triathlons in my younger days. Now in my fifties, I still lift, play soccer and volleyball, and last year I ran a Spartan Race. As I age, I'm committed to remaining functional as long as I'm alive. I want to help you do the same.

JUMPSTART YOUR HEALTH
I am a Certified Personal Trainer through NCCPT, an NCCA certified organization. I am also a Certified Senior Fitness Specialist and am working toward a nutrition and weight management certification. All of my services are directed toward your fitness goals. I will train in your home, an open space outdoors or your gym, if the gym allows independent trainers.

Whatever fitness level you are at right now, I want to help you improve. The goal of functional fitness is using a variety of exercises that increase your ability to do your daily tasks from getting in and out of bed or a chair to jumping higher or running faster or having better flexibility. I want to work with people at all level whether you hate exercise or whether you are already an athlete.
INCREASING RANGE OF MOTION FOR LIFE
The most overlooked part of fitness is flexibility, especially as we age. For kids and seniors, flexibility and range of motion increases our ability to use our body to do the things we need to do. For seniors, this may be something as being able to pick up our grandkids. For youth, it could be maximizing our sports skills or even just carrying a back pack around school without hurting yourself.

Some people just don't have time to meet with a trainer or have the financial resources to spend to pay a trainer for regular appointments.
Together we can develop a fitness plan that you can perform at your gym or at home. I can assess your current fitness and design a plan, then we can monitor that plan to make sure you stay on track.
